Hi all

 

You've prolly seen this on the other post but no one told me for sure what he was.

 

This is my newest little man lollipop.

 

 

 

He is really quite purple in real life but the greeny tinges you see in that picture are evident in real life too. He came from a clutch of lots of blues and green but he was the only purpley one.

 

Anymore thoughts would be great. i really dont know what to call him and with a skyblue and a spangle cobalt he really does need some identity hehe

I would have thought female from that picture. Definately opaline and possibly cobalt. Very pretty.

looks female to me too the cere is tan not blue? My eyes??

 

I would go with Opaline Skyblue Violet

I got Lollipop from a reputable breeder ( a grandfather of a good mate) and she said he'd never gotten it wrong in the past but i've been looking at him wonderinf if he is infact a him too! His cere is pinky purple but i had the same trouble with my last one that Talullahs ( previously chief) had a blue cere and then at 7 month it turned pink altho she had the white around her nostrils.

 

But with him his is very pink and has a slightly off colour around his nostrils i wouldnt say it was pink or white OR blue!

 

I am really hoping hes a he because i got him so i coudl hand tame him and so far hes not doing too badly. He wil hang around on my hand if he cant see the other birds for a minute or two but then he flies off. Also he doesnt mind stepping up but hes not doing much better than talullah who i bought for taming only to find out she was a she and she will fly on your head and stuff but shes a bit of a free spirit. :S

 

argh!!!! can any one confirm? shall i get a closer picture?

take another picture of him close up with no flash or shadows so we can see better

I think the cere is too hard to tell, but I thought he was a he in other pictures. I think I also posted before that I thought he was a cobalt opaline.

okay i'd taken a picture of his cere altho he wasnt very cooperative as the kdis were running around at the time.

 

I was going ot make it smaller so you coudl see it straight away but i thought the bigger the picture the better.

I'll have to go and get yet another budgie if he is infact a she Wouldnt that be awful An excuse to get another budgie hehe!

 

Either way i'd love you opinion as i'm slightly nervous hes starting to look like a girl

 

By The Way i dont suppose you can tell any way other than the cere aye? cause i imagine budgies dont carry around normal external genatalia right?

So i'm gonna go with male opaline cobalt violet i think! so the same as talullah but opaline and male. Cause shes just not quite the right colours in real life to be skyblue i think and is fairly purple.

By The Way when shoudl he get his blue cere? around the 6-7 months liek talullah got her pink one? Is it a maturity thing?

about 4 months I noticed that Merlin's started to change :fear and he is now 7 months and it is a dark blue.

Boy

Mines 5 months gettting more purply and iridescent so agree with Lovey- should be blue by 7 mths
