Posted October 20, 200618 yr After much research, here and elsewhere, I have decided to move to a mixture of seed and pellets. I bought a bag of Kaytee Exact pellets. The bag says that I should feed two tablespoons of pellets per day per bird. but that is only if I am feeding pellets only. My goal is about half and half. My question is this. About how much seed do you think a budgie eats in a day? I usually put about a 1/4 cup of seed in the cage for two birds for a day. I guess I just want opinions about how much of which food you would serve daily. They also get vegies daily too. Thanks :feedbirds: Shell
October 20, 200618 yr First things first, don't use the Kaytee pellets - Kaytee uses ethoxyquin in their products which is dangerour for birds. Brands to be avoided are: Kaytee and Lafeber. These brands contain preservatives, specifically ethoxyquin, and also contain artificial preservatives and colorings. Kaytee is also infamously known for overloading their pellets with sugar! The above quote is taken from This Link I feed Blinkie and Ozzie a mix of seed and pellets and i give them 2 tsp of seed and 1 tsp of pellets EACH (they have a food bowl each). They seem to eat most of it and they aren't overweight so i must be doing something right. Edited October 20, 200618 yr by Bea
