November 2, 200618 yr Author just a quick question which vet are you using in the city? For this, and when I have an emergency I go to Richard Weger. I really like him and he's compassionate and he doesn't have an attitude. I do also go to an avian clinic in the city (not to mention names), but it's not for emergencies any more. Not to mention names but that clinic comes with a lot of attitude, combativeness and contradictions. It's difficult enough to take care of birds without the contradictory information from vets. November 3, 200618 yr Author Jada's still hanging in there...he was 30 g this a.m. before work. Last night we turfed the aviary that my BF had built. I was really very sad to see it go. He had done such a beautiful job of it and the birds loved it..sigh...here is a picture of it.. wood aviary We didn't want to take any chances anymore with the wood aviary because as much as we clean and try to dissinfect the aviary, wood is porous and I'm never positive that it's really clean, that it's germ free. We went out and bought a new powder coated aviary, we looked around and it's the biggest we could find in the city. New Cage Of course, I don't want to put anyone in there until I have medicated everybody. So it'll probably be a while before they get in. Maureena
November 15, 200618 yr Author Hiya, update: Jada still hanging in there though we had a bad day last Saturday but we got him through. He is 31 grams today and chipper. We're in this for the long haul...me, Jada and Berdie. He's very lucky to have her. I do my own fecal testing now as I have a microscope and gram stain kit etc. I want to keep on top of this and the equipment allows me to examine samples daily for Jada and Berdie, and monitor the rest a little less frequently. We got rid of the wood aviary that my BF had built. While I was really sad to see it go because he did such a wonderful job in building it and the birds loved it. I found that it was difficult if not impossible to dissinfect wood, wood is porous and I'm never positive that it's really clean, that it's germ free. We went out and bought a new powder coated aviary, we looked around and it's the biggest we could find in the city. New Cage The guys seem to love the new cage and it is so much easier to clean although because of it's size, it doesn't come apart like the smaller size cages for cleaning. But I can at least get in there and clean it and I know it's clean. Maureena
November 15, 200618 yr Author awe good to hear and you are an amazing individual Thanks Lovey, but not amazing...just STUBBORN, DETERMINED, BULL HEADED, and I love my budgies.
November 15, 200618 yr I know and it shows (I have always said actions speak louder then words) kindness, determination and stubborness will be repayed with love. Thought stubborness can be a bad thing too (Laughing out loud) but here it is GOOD.

Thought stubborness can be a bad thing too (Laughing out loud) but here it is GOOD. Oh absolutely, it usually works against me but you know sometimes it comes in handy, in this case, and it helped me quit smoking over two years ago, and it helped me lose the weight I put on over the two years of not smoking..hehe. So I guess it does serve a purpose. As a side note, I bought an electric salad spinner. I like to soak my fresh veggies in a mix of vinegar and water to kill bacteria, then rinse in water, then I spin them dry and put them in the food processor to make smaller pieces for the birds. I have fibromyalgia and my arms just got too tired trying to spin manually so when I saw an electric salad spinner the other day, I didn't hesitate. It's fantastic and my muscles thank me! :-) Edited November 15, 200618 yr by Maureena
