Does any one know the average life span of a budgie?

They can live into their teens if you look after them correctly.

It is my belief that a budgie kept in cativity, average life span is about 8 years. And if really well cared for can live into their teens!

I just googled and found that last bit! WOW!

you mean like human teenagers right?

yes the same age as when a human is called a teen. So around 15 years of age. The average is around 8 to 10.

 

The oldest recorded is 26 year I believe or it could be 29.

Note that your English Type have a shorter life span then your American Type budgie.

not always i have birds in my retirment flights over 10 years i think the oldest is 13 but would have to check

I dont realy know for sure,

but i think budgies kept it australia will last longer.

mainly because of their instinctds from thousands of years ago.

I don't see how instincts of wild budgies affect our pet budgies, wild budgies haven't even been used in the breeding of pet budgies for a long long time now because i believe it's illegal to remove them from the wild.

Nobody is having a go at you. If you can't learn from other people then you're going to get offending everytime someone corrects information you've stated or gives their opinion.

Every now and again we get the English (Show) Budgies don't live long. This is a fable. It's like saying pedigree dogs have more health problems than Mungrels. Not always true.
