Posted October 14, 200618 yr okay. Yes, I'm certifiable. This little darling has been at the petstore for a short time. I had been in once before and left without bringing him home. I went in to buy some seed but I just had to have him. It may not be apparent in the pictures but he is so purple!!! I just loved him. He had a twin almost as purple. Check him out. I'm thinking of the name Kito which means gem. I think it is a male but it isn't as obvious to me as some of my other males have been. It's funny. Even his feet are purple and he has the prettiest tail. Is he a mauve? He isn't a lilac colour like Karen's Jasmin so I don't think violet.
October 14, 200618 yr You're right. What a little gem. I might be wrong, but from what I have learned here, it looks female to me because of the white rings around the nostrils. If I am wrong, someone PLEASE say so! :bluebudgie: Either way what a gorgeous bird. Congratulations! Shell
October 14, 200618 yr The coloring looks just like Merlin's I say a normal violet and she is pretty. Lavendar Lilly Gem I like and here are different names meaning gem etc.. Adorna - Adorned with jewels. Amethyst Cameo - An engraved gem. Gemma meaning Gem or Adriana - A dark woman from the sea. Kali - meaning energy Kiera - Dark, black. Feminine or Indigo or Indy - dark blue violet Sapphira - dark blue
October 14, 200618 yr Author Thanks for the names Lovey. I really do think this is a male. I looked back at pics when Sylvester and Tweety were babies and this one cere is much closer to Sylvester's. It is very purple. I may go with the name Indigo - Indy for short because I think that is unisex enough that if it does end up being female it will still suit.

What a beautiful baby, but I would say girl also...but only because of the great advice I got from everyone here on sexing :bluebudgie:

October 14, 200618 yr :bluebudgie: Beautiful bird Shawna, would like to have a large cage here and have more birds like you but I have to split them up in separate cages or else they fight or engage in ahem, extracurricular activities and that is what takes up the space, lucky you! :dbb1:
October 14, 200618 yr You have a very beautiful violet normal. Very intense colour..........very nice :bluebudgie: I am not sure of the sex but am leaning towards female until I see other photos.
October 15, 200618 yr Author Well here are two more pictures. I think they show the purple in the cere more clearly. I think I'm sticking with Kito for the name. My son likes that one. Edited October 15, 200618 yr by Shawna

Yes. I am lucky. And I have a great hubby for putting up with me. He's not a fan of the noise that 16 budgies can make. The budgies seem to get along well. But I'm well stocked with cages just in case. Check out my "wall of cages".
October 16, 200618 yr That's a neat setup Shawna, I do have a stackable shelving unit (purchased from a bird supply place) but everybody wants to be on TOP of their cage when they are out so that is why this unit is in the spare bedroom getting used for storage purposes.
