I had these interesting facts emailed to me by a friend.

Not sure where he got them from. ;)

The average Budgie has three eyelids, an upper, a lower and a third which pulls across to protect it's eyes!!!

The budgie with the biggest Vocabulary was Puck, owned by Camille Jordan who was estimated to have learned 1,728 words by the time he passed away in Jan 1994!

Did you know that the oldest recorded pet Budgie lived to the age of 29 years and 2 months!

Perhaps the most famous talking Budgie was Sparkie Williams who had a repetoire of eight nursery ryhmes, 360 different phrases and a vocab of 550 words. He died in 1962 after becoming a star after selling 20,000 copies of his record and featuring in so many radio programmes!

out of all the different breeds of our feathered friends kept as pets, the budgie is the one most likely to stay in the same home for all of its life.this is partially due to the fact that budgies do not have the great lifespan of a lot of its feathered counterparts, but also because the budgie is the most amiable, easy natured and pleasant of the caged birds.

Also, the budgie can have a vocabulary of up to 500 words! also, you can, on occasion, come across a hen that will talk, but it is rare.

When I was small, I had a hen that would tell me "hello". She was my first budgie. Skittles will wolf whistle occasionally, but only when she thinks no one is watching. :) With other birds around, they just are not that interested in speaking my language. But they have got to be the most acrobatic birds - both in the cage and in the air!!

yes theyre funny when they start doing their acrobatics arnt they! sometimes poor old teapot comes a cropper and falls off his perch or cage side, but luckily always manages to right himself before he lands! :)
