Um...i Don't Know What To Think +video

Hi

One of the other topics prompted me to inquire about a harmless but weird behavior that one of my budgies, Anthony, has been showing lately. We got Anthony from the Humane Society and he's about 3-4 years old and throughout his quarantine when I'd be trying to get him tamer, he would bite viciously. He drew blood. We were concerned he'd hurt the other budgies but it turned out to be quite the opposite and he's very happy and well adjusted with the other birds. As a matter of fact, he's crazy about another male budgie, Monkey, and the two are inseparable and groom each other, exchange food and one cannot be without the other.

The latest weird and embarrassing thing Anthony has been doing is instead of trying to bite me like he used to, I can pick him up and he's absolutely in love with my hand and refuses to get off of his own accord. He fluffs up, gets all bug-eyed and starts wiggling his butt on the back of my hand or fingers along with nibbling and cooing. I have to actually get him over to a play stand perch and gently push his belly towards the perch to make him step up on it and get off my hand. I aught to get a video of this, it's too funny. I was getting paranoid it was just my hand so I made my boyfriend pick him up...turns out it's hands..doesn't matter whose.

Does anyone else have such a gay and hand-loving budgie?

I've posted this video (hope it's working) to show him in the "act" but I couldn't stop giggling.

:) Blinkie doesn't hump hands (he flirts with the though) but he humps his rope perches.

 Some of my budgies hump rope perches, mirrors, toys, ..............

Crazy creatures :D

you can reduce this behavior too so you know or least try. Reduce the daylight hours and make sure he gets at least 12 hours of dark, any running water or fish tanks around the cage can stimulate this behavior also an over abundance of food give him just what he needs. They only need 2 teaspoons of seed a day supplemented with veggies daily.

:D:D:P it's your own fault you know......can you make your hands look a little less "budgie-like" ??? :D:P

It's just Anthony, everyone has all that...but I guess it's that Anthony is just extremely happy to be with other birds and have some freedom. He was never let out of his cage before he came to our house. I think he's just totally overstimulated right now and in time he will calm down..but everything is so wonderful and new and there's all these birds and people and flying...

I guess different male budgies have different "humping preferences!" My first budgie Pip used to hump only things that were bright green or yellow (He was a normal green, so I don't know if he was after a lady the same colour as himself)...it's quite something to see a budgie try and mate with a tennis ball, believe me!!!

Oh gawd, that'd be funny seeing that.

okay that video had me almost rolling on the floor laughing!!!!!!!!!!! Fran was on my shoulder watching as well and chirping at him...LMAO

Alora :wub::wub::wub::wub:

 My Munchy does the same thing, although he is the toe lover aswell.. doesnt seem to bother him even if we are walking, mind you if he cant get our hands or toes.. hes happy to go with anything aslong as its human  ..Its getting pretty bad actually, we cant even just hold him much anymore without him trying to mate with us, he even CHASES us just to have a go :wub:
 That's er very interesting, wish my studly, sex mad male Comet would rather do that than bug the other budgies.

(Laughing out loud) I wish that Munch would attack the other budgies instead of me  Even as im typing hes at it with my toes, spose im lucky as its normally with my fingers even when im typing  it is cute though how he sweet talks my toes.. "Hey Cutie.. talk to me.. Watcha doing *inserts a few fart noises* beep beep beep beep"

Hi there. I was searching the internet trying to find anyone who had heard of this type of budgie behaviour before and I came across this site. I just couldn't resist replying.

My house has turned into Budgie Lovin' central lately!

I have 2 budgies, 2 hamsters, fish, a lizard and a dog. I'm not actually as weird as that sounds I just love animals and have a big house.

Anyway, Budgie and Pretty Bird first started getting 'friendly' with their perches and to be honest with you, I just assumed they were itchy! Budgie has taken things to the next level recently. Oh yeah, he loves my hand and my toes, and once I didn't have the heart to kick him off and he actually left a 'deposit' on me!!!! Well, that was not the worst of it. The other day I was sleeping on the couch and the birds were just hanging out with me and I woke up because Budgie was on my face and trying to get comfortable!!! My goodness! It is as funny as all heck though. Pretty Bird, who loves my dog Winston (no joke), humps his head on a daily basis now. There is some weird kinky stuff going on in this house. My friends think it is strange, but absolutely hilarious. So glad to hear that it is 'normal'!!!

There is some useful stuff on here that has been helpful to me, thanks!! I would have added a photo like the rest of you but I am computer illiterate and can't figure out how!!

:hap: Hi Corie, many weird budgie "practises" on this site and yours is not unusual so you can relax, why won't the little guys behave themselves? :hap:

Didn't realize so many people had so many finger/toe lovin budgies! :-)

:D what a funny topic!!

I guess my budgies are unusual then.... Bobby used to hump one perch, but once they got the new cage he stopped that, I've never seen Sunny hump anything hehe :(Laughing out loud):

:) I'm Sooooooooo tempted to call Dr Harry even, :( even as i'm typing this munchy is going at it with my toes :) Think ill pull out the camera soon.. he has decided to feed my toes first to prove that he would make a great provider :(

No matter how i put my foot he thinks hes in for a really good chance, but if i should happen to move my foot about too much (and too much for him is keeping it constantly moving violently) he will jump up and try his luck with my hand :( and if that fails, any skin will do or even the carpet is great :(

Cheers
