Posted October 9, 200618 yr I just confirmed my suspicion as of last night mom and dad are not feeding the youngest chick, he is one of four and about 7 days old. There have been no problems thus far, so i don't understand this turn of events. He is considerably quieter than the others and appears weak and dehydrated. I am soaking pellets in warm water to try to give him for now until i can get some handfeeding formula, any emergency tips to get this little one going again. I don't want to take him out because he's being kept warm by the others and no one is picking on him. HELP! I don't want to loose him so whatever you all suggest I will try. Thank you !! Kristi :hap:
October 9, 200618 yr Although I havent tried it I have read that you can use in an emergency Farex Baby Cereal until you are able to buy some handrearing mix. It should help to sustain him till then. Mix with boiled water and make it quite runny and feed with a syringe or eyedropper. Make sure its nice and warm (not too hot or too cold) otherwise he will refuse to eat it. Good luck! October 11, 200618 yr UPDATE: Just thought I'd let everyone know that mom and dad are back to feeding their youngest again. He's happy and his crop is full. I did end up feeding him, I used Harrison's Juvenile hand-feeding formula, that kept him very happy :angel1: Kristi
