Posted October 8, 200618 yr I was wondering if those of you with female recessive pieds could post some pictures of their ceres. Especially when they are in breeding condition. I'm trying to decide if my Tazzy is actually a female. All along I've said male but Taz has been really taken with Monty (definately male) for the last two months. They are constantly together, feeding each other, keeping others away. They do all the stuff that my other m/f couples do. And some days I swear Taz's cere looks beige. I remember someone recently (maybe Nerwen) thinking their recessive's cere was turning beige. I posted that I thought it was male. But now I'm starting to wonder about Taz. Thanks everyone. October 8, 200618 yr I believe that two males can bond as well and will feed each other etc. So you may be still right your bird maybe a male. Am I right Guys? KellyM
October 8, 200618 yr Author Here's one of mine Thanks for posting this. She is so pretty. Do you have a picture of her NOT in condition?
October 8, 200618 yr Not in condition it would be white/blue like any other female. I JUST remembered i used to have a female rec. pied, here's some pics: And of course i don't seem to have a picture of her not in condition...but you can see how in some spots it's going whitish, Edited October 8, 200618 yr by Bea
October 9, 200618 yr Hey shawna! It would be best if YOU posted a recent picture of 'him' then us post our birds... :hap: (Laughing out loud) Anyways, im bored, so here are some of Chico (yellow) my male, and Ariel (white) my female... Kirbs
October 10, 200618 yr Gorgeous birds! I have three males and they all have DARK ceres. The male in the above photo doesn't look very dark. what is the norm? Shell
October 10, 200618 yr a picture of yours would help. This is my male Rec pied: hens out of condition: a young hen changing to brown:
October 10, 200618 yr Author Well here is a picture of Taz with the love of his/her life- Monty. Monty is just a wee babe. Taz is probably 9-10 months old. Edited October 10, 200618 yr by Shawna
October 10, 200618 yr are the rings that clear in person? I would say female because of that but Pretty's cere has the darkening pink going right now too. In fact when you posted this I was just thinking the same thing about Pretty.
October 11, 200618 yr Yuppers!!! Tazzy is in deed a female! Dont ask my how the over hundreds of people that belong to this forum didnt notive sooner... sorry (Laughing out loud) Her and Monty will create GORGEOUS BABES!!! Kirby
October 11, 200618 yr Author I'm actually glad that she is female. I think that she and Monty will make some gorgeous blue babes someday. Tazz is violet in person, and Monty is a gorgeous dilute cobalt or mauve. I'd also like to pair her with a recessive male to get some recessive babies.
October 11, 200618 yr Do you have another photo of Taz when she was little? I'm curious cause i'm not certain of the sex of one of my new babies so i'm wondering what it looked like to make everyone think male.
October 11, 200618 yr I was curious too. Here are a couple links, I can see how we thought male even though the nasal rings are prominant (Pretty's were like that for a while) http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....=10494&hl=Tazzy And this one doesn't even show the nasel rings http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....c=9574&hl=Tazzy http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....=10529&hl=Tazzy Edited October 11, 200618 yr by lovey
October 11, 200618 yr Remember Blondie, Gherkin's opaline daughter. She had to be female because she's opaline and neither parent were but look how male her cere looked. I guess there are some budgies whose ceres just don't fit what we know.
October 11, 200618 yr Author I guess I won't know for sure unless Taz lays eggs. The ways she behaves with Monty really makes me think female, but then when I look at the cere of Romeo it looks pretty much the same. And I think he is male.
October 12, 200618 yr Not sure if it helps or not, but here is a close up of Sunny (as requested :budgiedance: )
