Posted October 5, 200618 yr As some of you already know my hen has chicks and the male is gone my problem now is her 7th chick hatched about 4 hours ago and i don't know wether to take out the oldest 2 and hand rear them or even just feed them a couple of times a day to help her out She has a male in with her now who was in the other side of the breeding cage and when cosmo was gone he started feeding her through the wire so i put them in together and so far they are okay I am also worried because it is 30 degrees here at the time being and very warm in the box
October 5, 200618 yr Keep a very close eye on the male he may attack the chicks. If he seems to be feeding them great, your problem is sloved. 30 deg is cool. I run up to 40 degs some times. The nest box is usually around 36 deg. The chicks will be fine. Edited October 5, 200618 yr by daz
