Posted October 2, 200618 yr Are there any other species that budgies will happily get along with in an aviary?
October 2, 200618 yr Some people mix budgies with tiels (only in a very large aviary) but i personally wouldn't. Budgies are real little brats and bully anything.
October 2, 200618 yr I have a friend who has budgies, finch and quail together with no problems although she does separate when it's breeding time.
October 2, 200618 yr I will have to be careful; I didn't realise that budgies were such bullies. Thanks
October 2, 200618 yr Are there any other species that budgies will happily get along with in an aviary? As far as I know you can't put hooked beeked birds with pointed beek bird because of the damage that a pointed beek bird can do to a budgies. cheers Paul
October 2, 200618 yr i have a new flock of budgies that came in with 2 lovies that live with them, now this i do not recommend at all because lovies are so unpredictable, but they have all been raised together since hatchlings, but i would never put another lovie or budgie in with these guys, (kinda off topic, if they are all over a yr and have lived happily this way since hatchling should i separate the budgies from the lovies or would that be a bad thing? i dont think the lovies know that they arent budgies though.)
December 5, 200618 yr ive know budgies, tiels, indian ringnecks, red rumps, doves, quail, pt. lincoln parrots and galahs to co habit and breed in the smae avery no fighting or inter species where present and if any occerd then it was sepparated. i wouldnt reccomend this combination for any one. this was only done from lots of experience with birds and thoughough knowledge of every species kept. thanks, Sco-tie
December 6, 200618 yr the aviary was as small al 3x4x2m but then upgraded to 8x4x3m and in the small aviary they all bred and lived no fuss, an odd occurance but think about it, they will all exsist in the same area in the wild.
