October 5, 200618 yr Author He's checking out the nest and she's checking out the nest. They're just not househunting together right now. Will update
October 5, 200618 yr If after checking the nest out, they start fighting over it… that could mean that you have two girls!
October 5, 200618 yr I guess for certain male by the even-ness of color in the cere. The eyes look black to me. If they were plum they would reflect red to the camera. Add some running water somewhere, that always worked to put my birds in chronic breeding mode! Edited October 5, 200618 yr by Rainbow
October 5, 200618 yr I've just read this post all at once and now I have a headache!! Put them in/ near the bathroom so they can hear the shower!!
October 5, 200618 yr we're on water restrictions... might just get a recording Has the rainfall been far below normal??
October 5, 200618 yr very dams over this side (east) are around 35% and we can only use buckets for watering things. No hoses. Not sure if it's super bad over on the west side.
October 7, 200618 yr Author Problem solved....the white bird with lacewing patterning has plum eyes just as Cheeta said. Under better light conditions eyes are plum in pure daylight conditions. Both birds are in hospital cage undergoing treatment right now for loose droppings.
October 7, 200618 yr :hap: are we sure he's not Fallow then?? I hope both are okay karen they are stunning birds. Edited October 7, 200618 yr by Nerwen
October 10, 200618 yr So, here we go again… it seems someone (didn’t want to be a snitch… but the name Bubbles comes to mind ) was throwing us off with the dark/black eyes…. so, with the plum eyes… there goes the texas clearbody theory! Yet I would go with Nerwen on this one, I think this is a fallow and not a lacewing: Lacewing white only admits red eyes and not plum ones. Also his body colour seems light grey and not white. I’m posting a link to a picture of a lacewing white (she belongs to Karen from Fernvale, hope she doesn’t mind): Lacewing White Fallow light grey, admits both red or plum eyes (with or without white iris) and a pinkish cere in an adult male like him. Cinnamon light grey, is also ruled out, because in an adult male the cere would have to be blue. Right?
