October 4, 200618 yr Teehee I wondered boy a while back but was unsure with that shot of the cere it really points to boy. If this is the case you put him to a normal blue hen and get only Clearbody girls to really clear up what China is. Luso - the light grey is an interesting idea, but I agree Clearbody seems to suit better. and the eyes looks black to me in that shot.

Thanks for answering Nerwen Haven't got a normal blue hen....**makes a list to go shopping for girlfriend for China I still think black eyes
October 4, 200618 yr I agree, it looks like a male cere. On my monitor the eye colour comes out black... but can't really take a conclusion... would have to see it live, in day light.
October 4, 200618 yr I would love to see this one live Karen what I meant was a blue lined bird, not another clearbody that way if you get clearbody babies you know that we have worked him out correctly. So that could be spangle, pied or any recessive gene bird.

October 4, 200618 yr Yep minus the Clearbody gene (and in hen they will show it) so you can be sure it's from him if any appear in the nest.
October 4, 200618 yr And if he has spangle babies you would know you have a cinnamon double factor spangle in white All babies will be sf spangle and the females will be cinnamons. Edited October 4, 200618 yr by daz
October 4, 200618 yr daz why didn't you come out with that idea before?? In that case Karen rule out a spangle as a partner as well.
October 4, 200618 yr daz why didn't you come out with that idea before?? In that case Karen rule out a spangle as a partner as well. I actually did in a pm to Kaz a while ago.
October 4, 200618 yr Author If by any chance, China mates with Madam while in quarantine, would that be an okay match as they are all in the quarantine cage together having come from the same place. Thanks for PM Daz " The other thing it could be is a cinnamon Black Eyed Clear or a Cinnamon Double factor Spangle. " Edited October 4, 200618 yr by Bubbles
October 4, 200618 yr If you had a nest box in a closed quarentine "Breeding Cage" thats fine. All chicks will be spangles. Males will be split to opaline and cinnamon. But you could get a spangle dominant pied. Females will be cinnamon spangles and cinnamon spangle dominant pieds. Love to see them.
October 4, 200618 yr Cross out DEC becuase of the iris ring. Would a DF spangle still have normal cinnamon markings??
October 4, 200618 yr Author I would not think so, but stand to be corrected. All my DF Spangles are pure colour with just a hint of underlying sheen to them initially. This seems to moult out at first moulting to make a pure colour...either white or yellow. wouldn't the cere be blue by now if a DF Spangle ?? The cinnamon markings aren't in a spangle patterning anyway Edited October 4, 200618 yr by Bubbles
October 4, 200618 yr I would think the cinnamon markings would be in a spangle pattern as well if Df so I'm thinking like you Karen and I forgot the cere as well, but I think Daz put that out before seeing pictures like I did with your PM.
October 4, 200618 yr You are right I think the Cinnamon gene acts the same as in a lutino or Albino to give the Lacewing effect. The ino gene is supposed to remove all body colour except yellow (Lutino) and the additional blue gene removes the yellow colour (Albino) but the cinnamon gene is not effected by these two genes so produce a lacewing in either white or yellow. If this is the case with a DF spangle it should only effect the black markings to give the "Spangle" effect. So it may not be a DF Spangle... Pair it to a normal and see what genes carry on

October 4, 200618 yr No I'd pair them up while they are in quarentine... I mean what else are they going to be doing
October 4, 200618 yr Greatly confused by what China is now. Still in the dark. Cheeta has visited and she thinks possibly plum coloured eyes. I still think black eyes. Cheeta also thinks maybe a male budgie which I don't mind either way. What do you guys think ? EYES Front shot...boy or girl ?? HELP  Hi Karen my guess is: if the eyes are a boy....if the eyes are dark a girl. Well its only a guess Cheers Paul
October 4, 200618 yr Author No I'd pair them up while they are in quarentine... I mean what else are they going to be doing  Well, so far, they are ignoring each other.
October 4, 200618 yr His eyes are creepy (Laughing out loud) it is like a dog with blue eyes. I think boy if that is the question and eyes look black not plum.
October 5, 200618 yr And be sure to dim out the lights too… you may even get some candles to get the romance going!
