Posted September 26, 200618 yr Hi everyone! As I told you guys in this thread 11468 I had done it again, I had bought a Yellow face. He was my 22 budgie so I had decided to stop there for this year. Last week one of my youngest hens (pied, born last June) died suddenly. Yet I wasn’t looking for a replacement, but yesterday I was in the mall and when I passed by the pet shop, as I always do, I took a glance at the budgies cage…. Among all the usual varieties (normal greens and blues, greywings, pieds and opalines) I saw a cinnamon hen with a strangely diluted body (cinnamon is supposed to be diluted but not that much), then I noticed the red eyes… I just couldn’t believe it!!!! A follow hen among all the others! I had only seen pictures but never a live one. I have had budgies since I was born (34 years) and all these years, going from pet shop to pet shop (and believe me I know a few) I had never seen one being sold in Portugal. Guess what…. yep, she’s mine now! Today I took some pics. She is moulting and she isn’t used to proximity and pictures being taken so she was a little spooked (there wasn´t enough light so I used a flash in some of them, as you all know that brings the colours to unreal levels):
September 26, 200618 yr :ausb: Pretty bird, sorry you lost your female, never seen a budgie with red eyes myself.
September 26, 200618 yr I am sorry to hear about you budgie's passing. This hen you have found is a beauty !
September 27, 200618 yr Thank you for your kind words about my little Hestia. No matter how long one keeps budgies, you never get completely used to see them go. There is always something different about each and every one of them that we will miss. Here is a picture of Hestia (middle one), on her left is her brother Apollo and on her right is her sister Diana. They were very young here, they are presently moulting. But as we all know, life goes on… so I’m finding some joy in Aphrodite (the new girl) as she is of a specialist variety that I’ve never had before.
