Are They Making Out?

Hi.

I have a male budgie called :ausb: Chico.

He lost his friend many months ago and because he was a bit lost i got him another friend. :bluebudgie:

I was told this boy? although they were not 100% he is around 2 and half years old ..

They seem to be bonding fine and happy ..

However tonight I witnessed some perculiar behaviour, Chico seemed to be dancing on Vinne's back, this act happened a few times ..are they mating? although it doesnt seem like that.

I do not have a nesting box in my cage and was told they only breed if a nesting box is provided..

sounds a bit like mating, but no need to panic yet. Budgies can form a strong bond and even mate but not go hunting for a nest site. It can happen Phoebe, a member here, can tell you a pair of hers raised chicks with out a box.

It would be a good idea to rearange the cage so it's all new, add some different toys for them to interest them and start to cover the over earlier, for the length of daylight can set them off with the want to breed.

:ausb: Hi Jane, for your sake, I hope they are just good buddies and having a good play.

I don't have a clue but why don't you post a picture of Vinnie and the other members can tell you the sex for sure. :bluebudgie:

Sounds like male behaviour to me :glare: and yep it also sounds like mating behaviour to me as well, if they are both male then there's no problem, if they are not both male then :fear
