Aviarys

I suppose that decision will depend on your budget.

Mine did!

I started out with two budgies in a standard sized cage and then moved up to a larger 1.5m (L) X 0.9m (D) X 1.5 (H) type cage that we had on the back verandah, which we built ourselves (much cheaper than buying one!) Then, of course, I wanted a garden avairy. I was lucky as I had a friend who had an old avairy (about the size of a single car garage) he was sending to the tip, it was fairly delapidated, so we picked out the best bits, and bought new wire and paint, and did a makeover! It was a great project for our whole family and my birds are still smiling!

Keep an eye out in the Trading Post and Ebay as sometimes there are good bargains to be had. Also do a search on the 'net about building an aviary there a some good tips to be found.

I converted a garden shed in to an aviary.

But I am thinking of up grading.

I'll be buying a bigger garden shed and turning that into an aviary

i started with a 6 foot x 4 foot shed small flight and a couple of cages now in a 15 foot by 7 foot twin skin purpose built bird house full electrics and heating two flights and 16 breeding cages what ever you decide to make or buy give it a lot of thought to what you want to do ie just keep a few birds or try breeding its easier to do it once than a few times and cheaper

Hath, when ar we going to see some photos of your set up..hhmmmmm :bluebudgie:

As Hath said give some thought to the design. Like me, you may get bittin by the bug and want to extend. I did and know need to replace instead of extend.

there use to be some photos on daz if there not there i will take some more

A treasure hunt to find Hath's Avairy Photos.. I like this. :(

Hath I couldn't find it. Can you post one? I'd like to see your set up. :budgiedance:

I got mine off Ebay after been tipped off by Daz :budgiedance: And at that time I didn't think I had the space ready to put on in.

But you did and you set it up well :budgiedance: It looks great Nerwen.
