October 2, 200618 yr Author beautiful as always, that green one in the second picture is HUGE!!! :wine wouldnt want to mess with that budgie!!! Candacelast most of what you see is feathers he's not really that big. I think this is him in the Show Cage. I was going to say the same thing - wow -what a difference in size between the green one and the white one next to it. How much does the green one weigh? His average weight over the last few weeks has been a steady 54 grams. Not really one of my bigger birds. That Albino next to him is a young chick just out of the nursary. He weighed in at 31 grams..
October 9, 200618 yr Your budgies look great Daz :hap: . And I love the aviary, what kind of metal are the sides and roof? Is it a normal zink roofing? I'm planning to build a new aviary soon, so I'm thinking what are the best materials to use. Did you build your aviaries on your own?

It is a zinc base that has been coated. The roof is the same. I didn't what the worry of metal posioning with zinc. I converted a shed in to the aviary. Cut out holes for windows and build the frame and cages.
October 9, 200618 yr Thanks Daz, I just found your post in "aviaries section"- how to clean and paint zinc walls, so I wrote it down . I hope I can find some good paint here :hap:
October 28, 200618 yr Author Just some more of my birds. The Aviary was at 37 deg C today so they are a bit hot.
October 28, 200618 yr It was a super hot day today, signs of what summer is going to be like I think. I gave my guys out there two showers which they loved and had a fan on for the families inside.
October 28, 200618 yr Hi Daz What a fantastic setup. Really love your flock, some beautiful colours. I'd love to have an avairy that big and some breeder type boxes. I was interested to hear about zinc and will look up the post in regards to this as I inherited a moderate size cage from my grandmother which is made of metal. I'm not sure what type but too old for colourbond. I was also wondering if MDF is okay in nesting boxes as that is all that seems to be available in our local area? A friend and I were considering making our own out of plywood about 7mm. I brought two more beautiful budgies today and am madly working on photos to put in a post, so stay tuned. Budgie Baby
