Hi everyone I am new here so just wanted to say hello. I have just purchase two budgies that are I geuss 6-8 weeks old they are very tame already but I can't tell wether they are male or female yet. Would it hurt to have like four to a cage? And how old are they when they can start breeding not that I thinking that far yet. sandbox16

In response to your breeding question, you'll want to wait until they're at least 12 months old to start.

I would be careful when pairing them off though. Don't pair off the two birds you just bought as they're almost certainly siblings. If you decide to get another pair, get them from a different breeder to be on the safe side.

As far as sexing, this page might help: http://budgietalk.com/budgiegender.html

Congratulations on the new budgies and if you can, post some pictures soon!! (If you post pictures, we can help you figure out if they're male or female. :()

Hi sandbox16 and welcome to the forums. If you can post some Photos we can tell you their sex and type. Depending where you bought them, they might be older than you think. My chicks don't fledge until they are 6 weeks old and then I hold them for another two to four weeks before selling them.

Enjoy the forum and ask as many questions as you like. :(

:P Greetings! Maybe start off small and gradually add after you get to know everybody and their personalities. :D
