Posted September 20, 200618 yr Hey there! Sadly, baby 1 is dying and is non-responsive since Ariel attacked her when i tried to fostor baby into her nest and since her real mom Belle isnt feeding them So, im off tonight to go get handfeeding mix, and could you guys please give me YOUR tips (for those who have done it before like Cindy e.t.c.) as well as good BUDGIE handfeeding websites. I only seem to find good sites on how to handfeed tiels or conures Thanks guys, i truely appreciate it! ps- Would it work out if the next baby hatches...i feed him at 7am in the morning before school, then right when i get back from school around 4:30pm, the once before bed at about 11pm? See this is the deal. Belle (the babies mom) sits on them GREAT!!!!(the eggs as only 1 hatched so far but is dying) but she doesnt think she has to feed them..which is EXACTLY what i thought would happen. Kirby (her hubby, the babies daddy) doesnt feed them either, but feeds Belle A LOT!!! So, do you think if i start feeding a baby hand rearing stuff a few times a day, Belle will pick up on it when they cry and get bigger? That way, i wont need a incubator as she sits on them, and i feed, then hopefully Belle will learn and feed them extra? FOUND A GREAT THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS TO DAZ AND NERWEN WHO ARE VERY GOOD AT THIS STUFF!!! :) http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....&hl=handrearing Kirby Edited September 20, 200618 yr by Kirby
September 20, 200618 yr Daz and Jenene have actually done this before I'm sure they will have better info than my half remembered comments. I think I need to re-read my book Edited September 20, 200618 yr by Nerwen
September 21, 200618 yr I've always used 'Farex' baby cereal (from the supermarket and the youngest age one) mixed with water and baby food puree. It has worked on budgies, weiros (tiels) and parrots. You will have to feed them more often than you are planning too though unless mum is feeding a little still. When mine were real young (1 day til about 2 weeks) it was 2-3 hour feeds then spaced it out from that age until they were weaned onto seed. I think these days you can get premade handrearing formula- I have never used it so can't give you my thoughts on it.
