Older Budgie....in Love With My Hand Lol

I work at a pet resort and bird sanctuary, and a little budgie was donated to the sanctuary. I don't know much about him, but he's a mature adult. He's been at the sanctuary for about 2 months now and has settled in nicely. He's very talkative. Anyways, I was working with him today. I've been trying to tame him some. I don't know if his previous owners ever handtamed him. So today I had my hand in the cage and he gave me a few hard bites to test me, but he got on my hand for the first time. And once he did, it seemed like he was very excited. He started circling around my hand with his head down, making all kinds of coos and warbles. It was almost like he was in love with my hand (Laughing out loud). Could this mean that he was handtamed at one time? He took to my hand pretty quickly once he stepped on the first time.

Sounds like it. George my pet male does this alot. He is very tame.

I agree he has a trust with the hand that is wonderful ;)

ha ha so did i karen! :)

:)

I thought it meant that he was trying to feed your hand like my cockatoo and amazon used to do.

hi luvn

Couldnt help but respond to this one cause my budgie did the same to me, I aquired him from a friend who had him for 5 yrs, they moved and didnt take harley with them, I have never been a bird person cause I thought if it had wings it should be free.. but when I got him, I fell inlove with him !! and apparently he did me, he was a recessive harlequin so his beak bit didnt show blue but my friend assured me he was, anyway he got sick and I found a bird doctor for a check up, I told him what he was doing as in vomiting on my finger and he said "he is courting you" ooookkk i thought thats cool ... but then he did the fluff thing which I thought was SO cute, but what he left on my finger wasnt so !! :P so that behaviour does mean that they are in love with u ...harley has since died :) , he got cancer in his tail bone, apparently 30% of Budgies are cancer factories, (all learned by bird doc) I only had him for 8 months and he had personality PLUS .. so now I am on the lookout for another ...
