Posted September 16, 200618 yr Hi there! My name's Rosie and I'm new here! I have 9 budgies, 8 aviary and 1 very spoilt pet one called Minty. She is about 8 weeks now, but I've had her since she was 5 and a half weeks. I wasn't sure wether to take her away from her mother but the owner said she was eating on her own and doing what she should be doing! So I took her home. First of all she was frightened of me loads, but soon she wasn't scared of my hand as much, so that's when I actually started the taming. It took some time, but it's worth it now! She's such a sweetie! :angel1: Before Minty I had a budgie called Jake. He was a Recessive pied cobalt spangle, and I bought him from the pet store. He was about 13 weeks and soon I realised I wasn't getting anywhere (about 2 weeks of solid training). So he went to join the others in the aviary. And before Jake was Percy and Millie. I bought Percy when I was 9 and she (yes, Percy was a girl!) was already tame when I got her. After a while I got Percy a friend called Millie, an Albino. Anyway (sorry I'm getting a bit carried away here!) Percy soon got less tame with a friend and to be honest, I was sort of getting a bit bored with them and really wanted a really tame that would at least want to come out the cage! I let Percy and Millie into the aviary in March. To my devastation, Percy died in July Anyway, here are some pics: Minty: (Laughing out loud), camera obsession! September 16, 200618 yr Hi Rosie, Welcome to the forums. I am sorry to hear about your loss but you now have beautiful birds. The maximum size photos that you can put up are 450 x 450 pixels and as yours are under that size I changed they so we all could see them. I hope you enjoy it hear.
September 18, 200618 yr Welcome! Minty tamed up super quick! It usually takes a couple of months to tame a budgie. Minty must be really special.
