Posted September 16, 200618 yr Hi guys! This is Scooter I posted pics when I first brought him home, but the colors of the pics were a bit off so it was kinda hard for anyone to tell if he was a Yellowface type 1 or 2. He's definitely a greywing and to me he seems more blue than green. And there's not really any yellow other than on his face and the underside of his tail feathers. But maybe someone with more experience than me will have an idea. Also, I'm pretty sure that he's a male, but being only a few months old, it's pretty much a guessing game. Again, maybe someone more experienced can tell. Thanks for the help! http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y9/luvnjgro/DSCF0117.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y9/luvnjgro/DSCF0130.jpg
September 16, 200618 yr He is a type 1 Skyblue. A type II has a more buttercup colour and the yellow bleeds into the body colouring.
September 16, 200618 yr another thing because he is so young you may find after the first moult the yellow may start to bleed into the body so you may have a Type 2 if you see that. But right now I agree with Daz.
September 16, 200618 yr I agree he is a male, and also a dilute. That baby blue color is not a normal skyblue shade, and the wings look equally diluted so I am not leaning towards him being a greywing. He does look type 1 yellowface now, but the picture is still a little dark, so I'm not sure if the slight yellow wash I see is from the darkness of the photo, or the possiblity of him being a type 2 yellowface. Has he had his first molt yet?
September 16, 200618 yr Author No he hasn't had his first molt yet. So his color could still change a little right? I'll try and take some better pics of him outside the cage so the lighting will be better.
September 16, 200618 yr what colour is on his wings?? I can't see them very well, are they white or yellow edges?
September 16, 200618 yr You can get a type II staight out of the nest. Chime was a type II golden face or what is called a parblue. You can see the bleed through her body colour and the buttercup yellow face. Though this picture was taken after her moult, she didn't change much. Here she is in the breeding cage and nest Her mother was a parblue Goldenface Spangle. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26/darrylw/budgies028.jpg Edited September 16, 200618 yr by daz
September 16, 200618 yr Thanks luvnscooter that helps a lot, scooter is a type 1 as all think so. If the wings had yellow on then he would be type two.
