Posted September 14, 200618 yr Hi people, I recently got a lovely bird from bubbles, her namw is ming and she is an Albino Lacewing. She has been such a good girl, doing all the right things with her new partner. So here is a couple of pics of her and her mate and her new brood. Oh and also how do you think the chicks will turn out? Cheers Paul
September 14, 200618 yr She has a lovely stance. I think the girls will look like dad & the boys might look like dad too but be split to white lacewing. Edited September 14, 200618 yr by karen
September 14, 200618 yr I am so glad you have a good result with Ming and her new boy, Paul. Here's some photos of Ming you may like .... When she was a youngster just after her first moult showed up the cinnamon and more Good luck with your babies. How many now..... 5 or 6 ? Edited September 14, 200618 yr by Bubbles
September 14, 200618 yr answering the question about the turn out the male is a normal blue yes? she is an ino/cinnamon I would say you would get all normal blues all the males would be split for ino and cinnamon the only way you would get visual ino or cinnamon would be if he is split for them also (you may or may not know is background) and he would pass the gene on to his girls. Of course there may be other hidden genes that they would both have to carry and those would be surprises . So that is my stab at the answer. oh and he looks like a cobalt in coloring are his wing markings black? they actually look blue on my monitor?
September 14, 200618 yr However they turn out, I am sure they will be very beautiful just like the parents. :greenb:
September 14, 200618 yr I think Paul said Dad was a mauve or violet spangle ? Looking at the wing pattern I thought I saw that, that is why I questioned it at the end. He looks violet like Merlin's coloration. So the babies would have a 50/50 of being spangle too then depending on if it is SF violet the babies would be 50/50 of being violet if he is a DF violet it would be 100% violet babies along with everything else I said above. Right Nerwen looking at the feathers on the babies coming in they look like a deep blue like daddy.
September 14, 200618 yr From the look of the dad in the picture, he looks like he has opaline colouration going as well. If that's the case, all the girls will be opaline.
September 14, 200618 yr :(Laughing out loud): if this post isn't here and there Cheeta I agree that is why I asked if the blue was running through the wings or if it was my monitor
September 14, 200618 yr okay Lovey your right with the spangle and vioelt bits and kinda with the other answers too, there will be blue normals but others as well now with the new information. Spangle blues Normal blues Spangle opaline girls Normal opaline girls The boys will be split for cinnamon and ino. With the babies the one closest to us sitting on the edge of the box it looks like, shows the signs on being an opaline. White down feathers on body.
September 15, 200618 yr Author I am so glad you have a good result with Ming and her new boy, Paul. Here's some photos of Ming you may like .... When she was a youngster just after her first moult showed up the cinnamon and more Good luck with your babies. How many now..... 5 or 6 ? 6 Babies now Karen and all are doing fine; I'm so thrilled. I think puting a division in the nest boxes have made a big difference. They have noticed the change in temperture. They are heaps warmer and when they get bigger and if the weather gets warmer I can take out the dissions, this will give the hens more room for another clutch and make it cooler. Thanks for the piccies of Ming Cheers Paul Thanks for all your replies I will post new pics next week of the chicks. It is exciting waiting to see what colours are coming. Cheers Paul
September 15, 200618 yr WOW !! Six is a very good result. Have you had chicks from this boy before Paul ? Your plan with making the nesting box so adaptable is very good and seems to be working well. All the best Karen
September 15, 200618 yr Can I throw up the genes. Male Opaline (sex linked) Spangle (dominant) Blue (double factor dark factor if mauve) Split to ???? Female Ino (sex linked) Cinnamon (sex linked) blue (to give albinoism) Split to ???? ( the ino gene will mask all other genes except cinnamon) Males will be split to the sex linked Opaline, ino and Cinnamon. Females will be Opalines and normals Dominant Gene will take 50% so they will be Normals and Spangles Colour should be Sky blue 25% cobalt 50% and Mauve 25% How did I do?
