Posted September 13, 200618 yr Today I gave Merlin and Pretty a bath that consists of putting them under luke warm tap water in my house since they don't like to be misted and Merlin will take a 1/2 bath in the water bowl. Anyways... Merlin was soak and wet after the bath. Pretty's feathers were like water proof Do the feathers on budgies become more resistant to water as they molt more? Merlin has molted once Pretty at least 2 times maybe 3 now. Have you noticed this on your birds?
September 13, 200618 yr All my budgies that want to take a bath usually gets soaking wet, and those that don't stays 'waterproof' as well. but I think that has to do with the amount of water they actually 'received'. My oldest budgie - Lemon still gets the wettest when she takes a bath and she's about 3 years old soon.
September 14, 200618 yr Yes, Comet gets "soaked" whenever he takes a bath or I mist him (has to look good for whatever exciting events that may occur), sometimes the other non-water lovers look slighty damp but they never look really, really wet whether moulting or not. :budgiedance:
