I am trying to post a picture of my sweet boy, Shadow. I think he is a opaline violet. What do you think?

I haven't seen a cheek patch that purple before and wonder if it's from the flash. But he does look violet.

Looks like it is from the flash personally I can see how it hit him Nerwen.

 

Take a picture with him in the sunlight or next to a window without flash you really get a true color of the bird. I have to do that with Merlin or he looks royal blue and he really looks more like a jean blue. He is a violet too.

Thanks for responding. He's really even more violet than either picture shows. His cheek patch is very purple and his cere and feet are purple/dark blue too. I am wondering what he and Citris will come up with for babies when they get around to it.

Thank you for responding! I am rather new to this and though I have done a ton of research, I am still a little unsure of myself when it comes to the genetics. I appreciate the confirmation of the violet and the opaline.

What do you think of Citris? I think she is a dominant pied. I don't know if the picture shows it well but the green on her is very dark green and her eyes are all dark with no ring, and she has the clear spot on the back of her head and her wings are mostly clear.

Her breeder said she was 12 months old in August, but maybe she just said that because I told her I wanted an adult female? It is possible but she seemed like such a nice lady. I just don't know for sure.

She's not 4 months old yet. No irus ring and still has some head banding. How long have you had her?

You can take a flashlight and beam it in the eyes lightly it brings out the iris ring if it is really light but I agree she is young and not yet 12 months old. Do you have a picture of the front of her so we could see her head better? She would be a dominant pied.
