November 11, 200618 yr That site you linked at the start clearly stated he put a Malenistics spangles male to a normal hen and got a mix of spangles, Malenistics spangles and normals. So which is right? Here is Czar: and Minka: close flight feathers look dark here compaired to the first picture. Both of them have the spangle like throat spots (lines) Edited February 3, 200718 yr by Nerwen
November 11, 200618 yr Author The information on the pairing came from a DVD I just purchased called "The Evolvement of Mutations" recorded this year at the Nationals in Maroochydore. The speaker was none other than Jeff Attwood who wrote the article you speak of. So to anwser your question. On the video he speaks of development in Holland of the same bird and they were calling it the Dutch Dominant. There is also another Spangle mutation just called Mutatant 1. He speaks of it in the video.
November 11, 200618 yr okay then If the same person is giving the information then they are right. Edited November 11, 200618 yr by Nerwen
November 12, 200618 yr Here are some more shots of them in better light and no flash. Minka beside an opaline: Both in the middle next to normals:
November 12, 200618 yr Author I would love to find out what they are. I have to drop off a nest box to a member that breeds Crested but she has a few Malenistics. I'll ask her what she thinks.
November 12, 200618 yr This is Jazz' Dad: Her Mum & Dad together: Jazz' Brother, That Boy!: Hope these photo's are of assistance. I've got no idea. Just found a picture of Jazz' sister - this is the only photo I have (I sold her ages ago). Jazz is on the right. The sister has a pale tail & back but unfortunately I can't remember the markings. November 14, 200618 yr Author Hi All mystery Soved. But I want you guys to work it out. What are they... They are spangles. But how do you get a spangle from http://www.flexi.net.au/~dwellsadsl/Images/Bluey.jpg http://www.flexi.net.au/~dwellsadsl/birds/K-05-w2.jpg
November 14, 200618 yr the mother of the babies seems to have the odd patterning to parts of her wings like the babies- The white hen (albino?) could she be hiding something?-Iam assuming she is an albino. Or is it something simpler than that?
November 14, 200618 yr So does it mean they are not Malenistics spangles? Just normal ones? Is it becuase since looking at Jazz more she looks more like a spangle to me now? (and so is infact one!) Edited November 14, 200618 yr by Nerwen
November 14, 200618 yr Author So does it mean they are not Malenistics spangles? Just normal ones? Is it becuase since looking at Jazz more she looks more like a spangle to me now? (and so is infact one!) you got it. Jaz is a Spangle. Karen you are breeding spangles. There are two types of birds that get the Head Spot. Dominent Pieds and also spangles can get it. It is infact penalised on the bench. Jazz is a spangle but there is also other things there. One of the state judges had a look at the photos in this section and has agreed that the chicks are spangles. Malenistic.. possible but the wing markings would have to be a lot darker. He is interested in seeing Jazz, her current chick and the others with white tails.
November 14, 200618 yr The wing patterns look lighter than a normal....are they ? Edited November 14, 200618 yr by Bubbles
November 14, 200618 yr Author Yes they are. Karen is there any dilutes in this line? Also Jazz's Dad is a Spangle Light green but with possible cinamon or greywing gene. Edited November 14, 200618 yr by daz
November 14, 200618 yr I can see Minka as a very heavily marked spangle but Even after all the staring of Czar he still looks normal wing to me. I am super joyed to have more spangles
November 14, 200618 yr Author ...and such a dark wing marked spangle at that. Wait till you see the last chick. I will be transfering to the aviary tomorrow and will try to get a photo. A definate stunner. No good for the bench but I love the colours. I'll let you wait till then ...actualy a lot like That boy Edited November 14, 200618 yr by daz
November 14, 200618 yr Daz, I can't help you with the rest of the line, both birds were purchased. The mother was a DEC. The father I got off a fellow from the Caboolture Budgie Club, if you like, I can get the leg ring number from him if you know how to contact the breeder?
November 14, 200618 yr ahh Mum might have been a DF spangle. Dad only looks like a greywing (or possible dilute) to me. Can wait to see your last one Daz. It will be interesting to see bubs from Czar now - will they look like the regular spangles or more like him? Would a normal be best to use or something else?
November 15, 200618 yr Author Might be good to do our own breeding to see what the out come will be. I'll be pairing "malenistic" to normal and to spangle to see what the out come will be.
November 16, 200618 yr Author Ipswich Bird IBS is Ipswich Budgerigar Society JD is the breeder. Triangle 3 is 2003 breed Bird 019. I'll check to see what I can get. Thanks Karen
