Posted September 8, 200618 yr When is the best time to breed the budgies be? Like what season I mean...I've heard in was fall or something? thanks in advance... Alora, Fran, Skye, Aries and Cleo
September 8, 200618 yr Show breeders do so in the middle of the year. But any time is fine if both hen and male are of age in in breeding contition. If you want to follow the nature breeding time that is normally in spring.
September 8, 200618 yr Show Breeder breed not because the birds like it then but because of the Show Season.
September 8, 200618 yr Sounds good...What often promotes them to breed? Besides putting in a nest box? Can you tell I REALLY want them to breed? (Laughing out loud)...I have one other male that is pretty ready because his cere is so dark blue! Is it okay if I switch Fran for him or will Skye get mad? Alora
September 9, 200618 yr well it depends if Sky and Fran are bonded already or not, once bonded it takes a while to break the bond and start forming another with the new partner. Dark blue and dark brown cere (male and female) are a good sign to know they are in breeding contition. Flirting for males is another good sign and hens ripping into things is another.
September 9, 200618 yr okay I tried putting Skye and my other male Aries together and she was being a big meanie...She was beating on the poor little guy so I took him out to avoid injuries to him...So I popped Fran back in there...I couldn't open the cage door fast enough! He wanted to be back with his girlie...(Laughing out loud)...It's cuuuute. Fran flirts alot and skye rips apart EVERYTHING...I put a book of mine on top of the cage for a second but i forgot about it...I came back about 1/2 an hour later and Skye had chewed half the cover off...rofl...(Laughing out loud)...It was only an old pokemon book but it was still pretty funny...:ausb:
September 9, 200618 yr Fran and Skye are really starting to bond again and Skye is in the nest box ALL the time...Except for eating...Fran doesn't really seem to get that when Skye wants food she wants it NOW...(Laughing out loud)..usually Fran just sits on the perch of the nest box when skye is too busy in the nest to notice him...it's most definitely HER nest...She doesn't even really like him coming in anymore. Is this a good sign? (Laughing out loud) Edited September 9, 200618 yr by Alora
