Posted September 6, 200618 yr My new girl is a beauty. Her name is Citris and I believe she is dominant pied. She has the yellow spot on her head. Her wings and tale are pure yellow and she has a grass green area on her head, belly and back. Her cheek spots are turquoise, and she is an adult with pure black eyes. The wierd thing is that she has two strange black spots on the underside of her tail feathers. Can you confirm the dominant pied or give me a clue to other mutations? And are the black spots normal? I also have a male that is colbalt opaline with purple cheek spots and blue feet. are the blue feet normal? Thanks, Shell
September 6, 200618 yr If she has the head spot, she is dominant pied. I'm not sure what you mean about the black spots under her tailfeathers. If they are symmetrical it is likely that is just how the feathers are marked, but even if on the same side if the spots are part of the feather's color it probably is normal too. It's hard for me to tell without seeing her. And the blue feet are normal, some birds have pinkish feet and others have bluish-grey feet. Same with beaks. I'll bet the cobalt's beak is a darker color also.
September 6, 200618 yr okay first pictures really help when working out mutations. I'm not sure what you are meaning with the black marks. But yes she sounds like a pied, not sure if she is dominant or Recessive, and possible a grey green :/ grass green area on her head do you mean on the back of the neck? there is green the same as on her belly? Could mean the gene opaline as well. As to blue feet yes this is normal, as are pink feet.
