I tried for a few more (I can only do it for a few minutes, for some reason the black light makes me nauseated).

he doesn't look too impressed either because their eyes can see ultraviolet rays that we can't see. My husband has a red laser light on his lever and I can tell you when he points it at Pretty or Merlin it FREAKS them out. You know it is like those red dots that you focus an object on like to shoot them. I told him to stop he did but was amazing how sensitive they are.

Give for an interesting pictures  for sure.

Birds see colors that we don't - they're able to see into the ultraviolet spectrum. He didn't really seem to care but those 3 were the only ones where he was still for the 10 seconds or so it takes for the shutter to close. I had to take 21! Last time he was around the black light he went crazy playing with his toys.

The glowing feathers around the face are important somehow in budgies' natural mate selection. There was an article somewhere I saw that stated something to the effect that budgies can see light from the ultraviolet spectrum and the amount that is reflected lets them know something about the health and suitablility of a potential mate. Birds with a lot of UV reflection are much preferred over those with little reflection, and the yellowfaces reflect more than whitefaces. Which would make sense, since the natural color of a budgie's head is yellow that they would instinctively prefer that.

yep knew about that  there is a website with shot like that too :( from burkes backyard (tv show)

Can't say I've ever heard of it, is it a nature show?

I didn't mean anything by my statement - meaning you were being mean or anything he just looked a bit scared (so I hope you didn't take that wrong) - I remember reading your post rainbow about the lighting you have been using has made your birds look awesome :(.

Oh, (Laughing out loud) no I didn't take it wrong. He was just sleepy and like "NO PICTURES", silly bird.
