Posted September 3, 200618 yr Hey guys As you know Kirby (yf) and Belle (skyblue) have started a family I know ill get yellow face blues, cobalt normals, and possibly skyblue normals.. right? (Laughing out loud) Is there chance of ino, or recessive pied babies? I do NOT know either of their parents as they are pet shop birdies... but i keep seeing a pair of birds on another forum who arent ino but they have ino babies... and it makes me think Then i heard recessive pieds can be produced from two normals if split (which i dont know if my birds parents are?) so i guess ill just have to wait right? Thanks . . . Kirby
September 3, 200618 yr both birds have to be split for the recessive gene and the offspring has to carry both genes to express it. The ino gene is a sex linked gene so if it is there the male would only be carrying it because of the female was she would be a visual ino. If an ino comes then it would be a female and the males would be split for ino.
September 4, 200618 yr Author Hmm... so is there a possiblity of ino... and pied? I doubt ill get any, but it would be gorgeous if i did have some unusual ones Kirby
September 4, 200618 yr Is Kirby or Belle a visual pied? I don't remember. If so, you will get pieds. All babies should have yellow faces unless Belle is a DF yellowface, then only some will have yellow faces. I can't wait to see them.
September 4, 200618 yr Author (Laughing out loud) thanks guys Here they are: http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e104/pet...31/MVC-026F.jpg None are pieds... both normals, Kirbys yellow face, Belle isn't...(Laughing out loud) Oh shoot almost forgot! They have 2nd egg as of today!!! Kirby Edited September 4, 200618 yr by Kirby
September 5, 200618 yr don't hold your breath for any suprises, they can happen of cause, kirby can be split for any of the sex linked genes (opaline and others) and they can both be split for any recessive gene.
September 5, 200618 yr Author Yay im excited! I hope i get surprises... but i dougbt it.. Either way as long as i get happy healthy babies im happy Kirby
September 6, 200618 yr Since you don't know the parents of either bird - there's a chance for recessives (dilute, greywing, recessive pied, etc.) if there are both split for the same trait. Better chance of having Kirby split for one of the sex-linked - (ino, cinnamon, opaline) and getting one of those. You can't get dominant pieds, spangles, greens, grey or other dominant mutations.
