Posted September 3, 200618 yr I had given up hope on Polly and Basil. It had been 30 days since their last egg was laid, and I promised to myself that this was the day I would throw the eggs out. I opened up the nest box and what did I see. Two beautiful tiny babies, I was shocked but very happy! I can't believe after thirty days the eggs still hatched. Does anyone know why the babies took so long to hatch I had given up hope? Is there something wrong with them, which means their not developing fast enough The parents have plenty of different foods plus calcium and iodine suplements. Carri P.S I am thrilled about my new babies! :feedbirds:
September 3, 200618 yr If the hen stops sitting on the eggs early in the time they just stop developing. They will be okay but the hatching will be delayed. Congratulations on the two chicks. I hope all goes well.
