Hi everyone. As you might know, my hens have both laid their first egg(one of which was eaten). I was just wondering, how long the interval between incubating is meant to be because she has been off the egg for about 1 hour now. Is this because it is night time or did I upset her or is she just being a bad mummy?

Some hens don't begin to sit tightly on the eggs until the second one is laid. But it is important not to distress her. I wouldn't worry yet. :bluebudgie:

Thanks Rainbow. Shes back on it and she'll probably stay on it all night I hope. I think I'am just really edgy seeing as it is my first egg (Laughing out loud). I don't want to take any chances! :bluebudgie:

Yes, rainbow is right - most don't start sitting until the 2ns egg is laid, sometimes even the 3rd. So don't worry, I'm sure you'll have nice healthy babies soon!
