October 4, 200618 yr Babies, babies, and more babies.. they are all sooo cute. 2nd Chick - 17 days old. Spangle? looks like a greywing or dilute to me, maybe opaline too Hi HurdyBirdy I'll give you a clue Hen Cock. Two more chicks hatched today Chick 1 Mum Dad http://www.flexi.net.au/~dwellsadsl/Images/Bluey.jpg Chick 2 Mum & dad Any takers on what the chicks will be??? Edited October 4, 200618 yr by daz
October 4, 200618 yr Author he could be an opaline spangle, he wings don't show me much spangle markings yet. Can't wait to see the chick from the bottom two get feathers Today I ringed both storm and Darel, I think I have them right in any case it's a day early for one of them so if only one ring falls off we will really know then. Also ringed Kazza. Edited October 4, 200618 yr by Nerwen
October 4, 200618 yr Yes it could be an opaline spangle if female... Another couple of days and I should be able to tell
October 4, 200618 yr Author Cupid is looking to have white on the tips of his wings so I'm a bit confused at the moment. Edited October 4, 200618 yr by Nerwen
October 4, 200618 yr Author Cupid is the first chick hatched from Marine and Tootie. He is showing all the signs that Reepi did who turned out to be Opaline, but the tips of his wings look whitish. I'm not very worried yet they are only just starting to show and could show more colour soon.
October 4, 200618 yr There are so many interesting stages that the chicks go through. This is the "What do you think it will be???" stage. The two that Jazz is looking after have the pied banding on the head. So I am pretty sure they are the Ganzer birds. But won't be 100% until they feather up.
October 4, 200618 yr Author Yep I love that time looking each day to see if you can chase a glimpse of some sort of colour Ring number 35 came off over night but 36 stayed put so I think I know who is who with those two now Daz. I hope so anyway. But to be sure I will most likly keep them both so I'm certain I've got your bird in the mix (Laughing out loud). And to be sure I'll not plan to breed either to any of the other family out there now. But lucky me gets to practice my ringing again (Laughing out loud). I'm not sure I'm every going to enjoy that. I have different colour rings would it be an idea to use a different colour for this one day? which I think if from your egg daz?? This other colour is being put on Jazz's bubs. October 4, 200618 yr I have different colours for families but don't use them any more. I ringed a chick this morning but don't think the ring will stay. At 8 days the leg was still a bit too small. Last in the clutch. If you have problems reringing the chick try some medicated olive oil with a touch of detol on his foot.
October 5, 200618 yr Author actually i've been using Baby oil. Thought if it's safe to put on their faces it would be okay for the babies foot. None have had trouble with it. I think I will stick with the old ring it's the number that really tells you who is who.

October 6, 200618 yr Author yes I read about those two *wag finger at Ash* We want to some babies from your mister! I've been looking super close at storm and Darel and I believe I can tell which is the oldest of them, one has slightly longer tail feathers showing now So I'm very pleased about that. These ones are so different from the last lot, they would squeak the house down when ever I took them from the box but these ones are very happy just to sit in your hand I held Cupid a while today while surfing the net, it was so cute. he was looking all over the place
