Posted September 22, 200420 yr Hi everybody. I'm really excited because we've just come into the East-coast breeding season and I've just seen both pairs of birds mating. This may sound silly but I just want to know if the mating is usually successful and if I can expect eggs. All replies are appreciated. Thanks :bluebudgie:
September 22, 200420 yr You should be right, if you actually saw it you're better off then most because budgie don't like watchers and so mate early in the mornings, even better that both are mating at the same time. You should expect eggs 8 days after the mating. So you don't have long to wait. Good luck, and hope you keep us up to date.
September 22, 200420 yr Yeah I'm so excited! i was lucky cause I saw them from inside the house(they have an outdoor aviary) so they didn't know I saw them. I had to seperate them though because the hens were fighting a lot and i didn't want any serious injuries or deaths! But they're happier seperate. Both the hens never com uot of the nest boxes now! I'll keep you all posted and put some pics up when the eggs hatch. Thanks for the replies! :bluebudgie:
September 23, 200420 yr AHHH HELP! I just went out to check on the aviary pair and to my horror I discovered a half eaten egg! WHAT DO I DO! A local breeder told me this might happen because it's a really bad season and they aren't taking care of the young and eating eggs. Is there anything I can possibly do!!!!!?????? :bluebudgie:
September 23, 200420 yr Good news! I just checked on the indoor pair and there is an egg in the nest box! It's been laid sometime in the last 45min, and she's being a good Mum so far. Hasn't eaten it like the other <_< Should I start a new topic in breeders chat or OTC or just keep posting updates here?
