Mother And Son ?

Featured Replies

Hi , Im new on this forum and was wondering if anyone could help me. Esther (my budgie)lost her husband earlier this year and has now taken up with her son. I am concerned about any deformitys ? Should I separate. Any advice would be welcome.

mother and son can be kept together just dont provide a nest box

Budgies don't usually recognise their young after they leave the box. She will think it is another male. As Hath said just don't give them a nest box and they will be fine.

Hi . Esther is my best mother hen and I am about to put the nest boxes back in so I wil have to seperate . Thats okay not sure how I felt about the whole "mother and son" thing anyway. They may not remember each other but I know. Thanks the replys. Looking forward to being apart of this forum. The closest I would go with inbreading is Mother-Son or Father-daughter. Most breeders I've

spoken with will go no furhter than this and then only if they have to eg: to strenghten a line

in breeding.

Mating brother and sister can create problems, which you certainly can

do without.

Common practise is Aunt to nephew or Uncle to Neice.

Grand Father to Granddaughter.

This is with Show Birds though.
