Posted August 26, 200618 yr I got 2 new budgies as a wedding present from my husband Albino girl - Snow flake, and a boy - Johny (I'm not sure what colour he is - looks like a spangle pied to me )
August 26, 200618 yr Author I don't know. But I don't think so, they are from a pet shop and don't have a ring, they are probably some mix But they are so cute, I love them
August 26, 200618 yr OMG they are gorgeous I would say a mauve for your spangle - that is my favorite
August 26, 200618 yr Your right with Johnny, mauve spangle pied. Both are really lookers Your husband really know what equals as a special gift
August 27, 200618 yr Author I actually picked them myself. I was just looking at them in the pet shop, because I didn't know that I'm allowed any more birds And Mark said I can have them It's funny when we met he hated all birds, now he helps me to take care of them I've read somewhere that Lutinos and Albinos are always girls - is it true? Do you know why? Edited August 27, 200618 yr by Zebra
August 27, 200618 yr No it is not always true but more frequently they are girls because it is a sex linked gene. What happens if the boy budgie doesn't have 2 of the lutino/albino gene he won't express it, the gene will be hidden. Females only need 1 to express the gene so that is why it seems like there are more because the boys usually hide the gene. Hope that helps.
