Posted August 20, 200618 yr I always thought Bobby was a sky blue opaline, but recently I saw some sky blues and they are much lighter than Bobby is, so I thought maybe he is cobalt, but he is much too light for a cobalt, and when you compare Bobby to the cobalt markings on Sunny - he is definately doesn't seem to be cobalt So what colour would Bobby be then?? Another interesting thing I noticed was that the markings on his wings appear to be more violet than blue, and Bea's dad even noted "I love his purple wings" I have posted some pics that are without flash and as close to true as I can possibly get.... Can you help me decipher Bobbys spectrum of colours?? His front feathers... His wings - Can you see the violet shades? Its a bit blurry but I think it really shows the odd colours... Also - there is a vast difference in the colours between his shoulders and on his rump. Sunny's cobalt just for more comparison. Edited August 20, 200618 yr by Riebie
August 20, 200618 yr I would say that Bobby is a cobalt (although I'm no expert ), and I think just because the blue on Sunny's rump doesn't match Bobby's colour doesn't mean that Bobby's not a cobalt. (???) There can be some difference in the colours can't there?
August 20, 200618 yr your correct Mac there is a differance in colour from cobalt to cobalt. I've always believed Bobby to be a cobalt, but then he does have some very very dark cheeck patches. whic ones of these pictures is closest to his real colour?
August 20, 200618 yr Author They are all pretty close to natural - but the top picture front on is pretty spot on What is the significance of the dark cheek patches?? How about the violet on his wings? Is this normal? Edited August 20, 200618 yr by Riebie
August 20, 200618 yr The violet on his wings doesn't show well in any of those pics. It's really really purple!
August 20, 200618 yr Sky blue budgies with one violet factor will have a violet tinge, especially in the body feathers near the feet, and sometimes look darker than a normal sky blue. It is very difficult to detect violet factor in mauve budgies. http://www.geocities.com/budgie-place/p_colors.html#violet Go here and look at the pictures of the different violets. So he could be a sky blue with 1 violet factor.
August 29, 200618 yr That's what I thought lovey, that he was a violet skyblue. The cheek patches are very dark, the tail should also be very dark, and the tail feathers next to the two long ones probably will be purple also. I have a hen that is violet skyblue, but she is two-toned - violet across the shoulders and a cobalt blue color elsewhere. Edited August 29, 200618 yr by Rainbow
