Posted August 14, 200619 yr Hello everyone! Wow what a fantastic place this is We are the proud owners of 4 budgies, 2 hens & 2 cocks... I'll start at the beginning!! We bought a patio aviary to buy a weero about 18mths ago but ended up finding a baby pink & grey galah that had been abandoned so we took it in and then 12mths later my brother in law turned up with another baby galah so we had the 2 in the aviary which was okay as we let them out regularly, but, then they started to bite harder and we felt guilty if we didn't have the time to get them out so we mentioned this to a friend who had a big aviary with only 2 budgies in!! So we swapped!! The budgies settled into the smaller aviary fine, 1 hen is yellow and very light grey, her name is Zoos, and the other is called Turkey ( I know!) She is a small turquoise coloured hen ( I think). On Friday we bought them 2 boyfriends, Fruitloop, a very bright green and Smokey who is a grey. I will take some pics and post them very soon. They are all getting along wonderfully. Smokey is a bit quiet but fruitloop makes up for that! We love our pets, we also have a little dog, a big cat, some siamese fighting fish, goldfish and a horse!!! I am married and have 2 children, Jessica almost 12yrs and Matthew 8yrs. I hope this post isn't too long... I am looking forward to learning lots about our little feathered friends
August 14, 200619 yr nice to meet you I like the name fruitloop I've one called Tootie Fruity. Anyway it's a bit late now but new birds should be quantined for 30 days to make sure they are not carrying a sickness. Movement to a new home can weaken them and a illness they are holding at bay can get a foothold into them. Keep an eye on all of them now. If you have some probotics or can get some give that in the water to help with stress. Any way the warning out of the way I hope to see you around here often, and I'll be the first to mention that we LOVE pictures here.
August 14, 200619 yr Welcome aboard. We love pictures (Laughing out loud) as Nerwen mentioned!! and yes yes next time quarantine some people don't find it important, some people just didn't know but we like to throw it out there for every case.
August 14, 200619 yr Hi nice to meet you!!! You have quite a zoo at your place. heheh so do I. you'll have fun here......and learn heaps
August 15, 200619 yr Hello and Welcome! Fruitloop seems an apt name for a male budgie. Love it! thanks for the warm welcome guys... yes Rainbow, Fruitloop is an appropriate name for him. When we chose him and the breeder caught him in his net, 3 times this little fella escaped! Then he managed to escape and fly around the mans shed when he was transferring him from this little box to our cardboard box!!! We were going to call him Houdini!!! but when we put him in our aviary he was flitting about and jumping in and out of the nesting boxes like a mad bird...hence, Fruitloop!!
