Posted August 13, 200618 yr Finally, I got Milly a decent sized cage. The tiny thing she lived in was breaking my heart more every day. Dimensions are roughly 30cmx40xcmx50cm and it cost $30. It was the biggest I could get without my mum insisting that it would take up too much room in the house . I hope it's okay for Milly.. she still gets free flight. At least she can turn around without crimping her tail. :budgiedance: Do you folks think it could be okay for two, if they get plenty of time out of the cage? Finally, some wing room! What's with this colour? Don't you know it doesn't match my eyes? Putting it the beak test. *gnaw* Something weird She's still my upside-down little baby. This cage was on display and there was a bird toy in it. It looked like one of the commercial ones I'd seen in the store: some plastic, rope and painted wood strung together. I thought I'd give it a clean since it was dusty from being displayed - and the water turned orange and yellow from the paint! Eep. Is it safe to put in with Milly, or should I just chuck it out? She seems infatuated with it already, even though I'm not letting her touch it. Edited August 13, 200618 yr by Chrysocome
August 13, 200618 yr I'd agree with Nerwen, she does look like she's having a great time checking out her new room :budgiedance:. And she is very cute, looks alot like my bird Sherby.
August 13, 200618 yr Great cage (Laughing out loud) your little one will be lost with so much extra room.. I'm not sure on what type of rope ladder you are referring to but thought id mention to be careful if the rope is tied into tassels on the ends, Id thought not alot about this and have had one in the aviary for years, Late yesterday afternoon i went out into the aviary to find my little budgie Pigglet hanging on with one foot and the rope was tangled around her neck I managed to cut her down and untangle it from her neck, she had no external damage and I'm just hoping the shock wasn't too much for her, id have bought her inside but she flew off to be with her boyfriend and he was being very attentive to her.. Oh yeah i cut the tassels off blunt, Horrible Horrible things : Cheers  Una
August 13, 200618 yr More than likely the toy is okay, but unless you remember seeing what the label said you can't be sure. Bird-safe dyes will run. At least all the ones I've bought that said bird-safe dye have. If you want to be sure, go back to the store, find the toy, and see what the label says. If it doesn't say, don't use it and find a brand that does specify the dye is safe.
August 14, 200618 yr Author So the dye is supposed to run? Phew. Well, I'll go back to the store and check anyway before I put it in. Here it is: Una, I'm so sorry to hear about that! I'll make sure to cut off the tassles of any rope I get. Poor birdy. They run into trouble with the littlest things, don't they? Milly's settling in well, practising her perch-to-perch flapping, and attacking the new perches with glee
