What do you all think about three eggs hatching ont of six eggs?

I so happy for your chicks by the way. R the others still to be hatched or they're just bad eggs?. hope they won't die! keep an eye on them as if one dies the others will follow due to some BACTERIA . After they get outta the box don't forget to give the hen a rest!! 6 eggs is not a joke

Well before I started breeding I would be upset with a result like that, BUT I recently read an article that said "if half of the eggs produce chicks on perches, you should be pleased" or something like that. I guess it helps avoid the disappointment.

 

So yeah, don't worry, you've done well, congrats!! :-)

3 out of 6 for exhibition birds would be excellent

3 out of 6 for a maiden hen would be very good

3 out of six for a normal pet budgie that has bred before is a little low

One of my exhibition pairs gave me 1 from 8, so if you look at those odds.....

 

Another exhibition pair had 5 from 6, so needless to say I was thrilled with that result!

 

I have been using foster parents of course, so the birds don't have to raise more than 4 chicks.
