Is Wattle Ok?

Featured Replies

Hi I found this great branch that has fallen from the fairly strong wind we had last night and it has lots of branches etc that i now my budgies would love to play on.

It is from a Wattle tree and covered in the yellow flowers. Is this safe for the budgies or should i not put it in the avairy? ;)

Thanks Jodie :ausb:

I'll see what I can find out for you. I've never heard of it and it may be hard to find on a list of safe/toxic branches.

it's an australian plants so I can't see why not.

Yeah thats what i thought!! I was just worried about the wattle flowers. I looked around the internet last night and found several sites saying what trees are good and bad. Wattle was not mentioned on either list. So see what you can dig up if anything.

This isn't based on anything scientific, but we have always had wattle trees on the farm and always put it in the aviaries for the birds to chew/roost in/ generally distruct! with no mishaps. Where I'm living now has a different type of wattle but I still use it. I'm only going on the fact I haven't had any sick/dead birds at any stage.
