August 8, 200618 yr Both mom and dad are split to blue. This means that they each have one gene for green and one gene for blue. In order to get a blue bird, you must have 2 blue genes, as blue is recessive to green. For the blue baby, they each just happened to give that gene for blue to the baby. Very cool.
August 9, 200618 yr Hi James, very pretty birds. Don't know if my screen shot is accurate but a lot of those bars look very rusty which isn't so great for their health. Just checking.
August 9, 200618 yr Yes I second that they can have metal poisoning and you can loose your whole flock, I suggest a new cage ASAP.
August 9, 200618 yr Those "Yellowones" look like lacewings to me. Have they got light brown on their wings and do they have redish eyes?
August 9, 200618 yr Author i have all new breeding cages, that old cage is attachted to wall high up and only used when i let birds of breeding cage to spread there wings its left open all the time they fly up there, plus i'm in there when they are out watching them.then they go back to breeding cages.i will replace front,i hadn't before as its not lived in. Those "Yellowones" look like lacewings to me. Have they got light brown on their wings and do they have redish eyes? Hi they have no brown on wings and don't have redish eyes. i'm not sure what they are.
August 9, 200618 yr They are light green full body grey wings the ones Daz is talking about. even though they just perch up there it can still kill them getting the rust on their feet and they probably even if you are looking all the time may chew it. They are your birds of course but my suggest would be to put something else up there for them to perch and scrap that whole set up.
August 9, 200618 yr :ausb: Sounds like a good plan to me Lovey, you can't be too careful with these delicate little birds.
August 9, 200618 yr What lovely birds. The blue one looks identical to my Star who is an opaline YF1. The "yellow" birds actually look a lot like my Beka who is a dilute green. I agree with the others. Get rid of the rusty cage. Not worth the risk with those cuties!
