Comet - There Must Have Been Some Clerical Error

 I throw in the towel completely, Comet cannot be approaching 12 (the humane society from which I got him must have meant 11 months, not years! ) Despite me cutting down on the food supplies as suggested, Coco laid another egg tonight (after 2 hormone shots), she was dancing around on Comet's cage when she was out and now that she is back in, Comet has been let out and he is feeding her through the cage bars! As soon as Mindy is out of quarantine in my bedroom, Coco will be housed in there (which is a shame as she is the one that enjoys the play gym the most) And when I move, I shall perhaps have to have 2 bird rooms and add another bird cage for company, one in the spare bedroom or keep her downstairs with my Mother. How I envy all you folks that keep multiple birds in one cage and nothing happens. :( Comet the superstud and he is mine all mine.

and the egg for all those people that think I might be making this up.

:(

*giggles with great delight* That's justice for laughing at me!:(:(

What a pretty egg, isn't it??? :P:P:P:P

Oh, sorry, did you want sympathy??? :P:

:( I can't take it anymore..............I can't treat them less better, I have already cut down on their rations..............ARGH!!! (but agreed, it is very nice egg which Coco has absolutely no interest in and it is in the garbage and Comet is back in his cage). Back to: :(

that is why I have 2 boys :(Laughing out loud):

poor thing over there

:( And I bet my running commentary made your decision Lovey, people have had different sex pairings for years (for example my Happy and Monty) with no untoward effects. Comet and Coco are 3 cages apart from each other but they still manage to excite each other through the cage bars, and then we have those folks trying to breed without success...........

well actually you are correct after reading everything with hor**ny little Comet my decision was easily made

:( Glad to be of assistance Lovey but I hope that doesn't stop people from getting females, they are fine as well and sometimes get along with people better than males, but I guess we shouldn't tempt fate and pair females and males together.

I'm sorry to hear she is still at it Phoebe  But I agree I don't think he is 12. He was most likely around the age of one or two. I look at the birds on my rspca page and most of them are listed around the 10 year mark. I think it's something to do with trying to give them homes as pets rather than breeders.

 I would hate to think I was deceived Nerwen and it was an honest error, I picked him over other birds as I felt sorry for him as I knew nobody would want an older bird and he sure was happy! Sorry for him no more, he is doing loop de loops over my head! He is not a geriatric budgie and I think on a post I did before about being able to determine how old a budgie is, e-terri or somebody say there is no way. Guess he will be causing happy chaos for a long, long time! :) Will move Coco into my bedroom when Mindy goes, also a change in seasons maybe will shut her down.

Sorry Phoebe, It's just a feeling I've had for a long time, I could be completely wrong about it.

 No Nerwen, you are correct, I kept believing the paperwork but for the last year I really knew there was a difference between the age given but didn't want to accept it . Maybe because I work in a job where accuracy is everything. Lovey thought he might bring out little Mindy when she is out of quarantine and just love her. HE WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER MADLY !!! Like I told her, I still have images of Comet flipping those babies on their back and feeding them and Star too. Cannot take the chance and put them together but he would be her best chance to become happy budgie. She will go to rescue in a couple of weeks, my landlord still cannot believe how scared she is of everything, I agree, so sad, she freaks out at almost everything.

What about if he was in the cage near her for a while, to help bring her out of her shell? Or do you think after meeting another it would harm her progress MORE to then be moved away?

I read somewhere else that you have a house at last  That's good news.

 The only problem is that she is in quarantine for another couple of weeks or so and then I have to take her to the rescue place, it would be too difficult with the move to keep her here but I guess I could keep her another week after quarantine and put Comet in my bedroom or put her out with the other birds and see what happens. Comet is certainly a goodwill ambassador. Casanova and Welcome Wagon all rolled into one hyper package! :P At least the place I bought is bigger than the place I am renting but can't get into it until near the end of September.

you may get more personality out of her and her interaction is something you could tell the rescue. Comet - down boy (Laughing out loud).

:) Okay, after her quarantine is up, will get them together for a bit. Comet will instruct her as to "how to be one, crazy, wild, loud, happy budgie, fly like a stunt pilot, play with your own toys and everybody elses and annoy your next door bird neighbours." :P
:P Yes, little Mindy will go to rescue after she has been transformed by Comet. :)
