Posted August 3, 200618 yr usually I make my birds some boiled chicken eggs, my males love it and usually gobble it up before the hour is out.. the problem, we dont have any eggs.. well, I have a pair of rouen ducks and my female is laying right now, I remove any egg she may lay daily so any eggs in the coop are fresh, is the oil content in duck eggs too much for budgies? has anyone fed duck eggs to their birds? I'll exclude the shell as the drake usually rolls it around in the bedding and get it nasty before I let them out and have access to remove the egg. if it's not a good idea I suppose I could go out and get a dozen chicken eggs. :grbud:
October 26, 200618 yr Don't know about duck eggs but I feed my budgies chicken eggs too! Only the whites though. They love it!!
October 26, 200618 yr im not sure about duck eggs as the fat content is higher but with the chicken eggs you can feed them the whole egg, shell and all.. just mash it all together, the shell is a great source of calcium for them and they seem to mostly love it (all cooked though )
October 26, 200618 yr I'm kinda new to this...so how much egg should I feed my birds? How much is too much? I only let them have a few bites of white because I'm unsure if too much is bad for them. So they can eat the yolk too?
October 26, 200618 yr I not long ago posted it in another topic but ill post it again.. http://www.javafinch.co.uk/egg/eggndx.html Its a recipe for an egg mix that my bird LOVE.. Its good to give to them to improve there condition, when they are moulting and when they are breeding.. Mine get it a couple of times a week but the ones out in the aviary get it daily when they are breeding.. They go APE over it
