Falling Off A Perch

Well that's what I think happened. This afternoon there was all this squawking coming from the budgies cage (2 males). They don't tend to fight or anything like that and this was really unusual. When I got to the cage, the older one (6) was staggering around on the floor and didn't appear to be able to stand up properly. He was behaving exactly as our bird that had a stroke did last year.

He sat panting on the bottom of the cage for about 15/20 mins but then started climbing up the bars, seemingly perfectly okay and he seems fine now.

Any ideas what might've happened??

it sounds like he may have had a seizure and that could be caused by different things one comes to mind is metal poisoning which is more common then some may think

I would have him seen by an avian vet. It could've been a seizure but I dunno... sounds a bit more like he got completely and totally spooked by something. Separate him from your other budgie so you can keep a close eye on him in the meantime.

How is he behaving now? Is he showing any discomfort perching still?

He looks absolutely normal today. I was wondering if they were playing or the younger one was flapping around, as he tends to do, and he just missed his footing or something. I don't know, I will keep an eye on him tho'!
