November 22, 200618 yr Mindy has been adopted by a friend of the lady that runs the avian rescue. Way to go Pretty Mindy!!!
November 22, 200618 yr And the same lady also adopted a tiel that I would have liked to have helped out, YYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!
November 22, 200618 yr Lovey, please pray I win a lottery, was prepared to foster 8 baby bunnies over Christmas in my kitchen but thank goodness somebody else with more space and time came through, the rescue/abandon situation is really getting to a crisis. Like a couple of dogs, age 10 and 12 have been turned in as they are "too old" and their owners wanted them euthanized. Still so many young budgies, lovebirds and cockatiels turned in after a couple of months as they "didn't become tame" or "made too much noise" or didn't fit in with the "lifestyle".
November 22, 200618 yr l'm glad that Mindy found a home  it's so sad when people want an easy way out
November 22, 200618 yr I am so happy Mindy found a good home as well, she was a lovely little bird when I was quarantining her. Star is still not adopted (the one that could lay every other day all year with Superstud Comet making the eggs fertile) so I am sorry for that, I guess people see her history and don't want her. But I think she would be fine as a single budgie or housed with another female. She is just your basic green budgie (so I guess she is not as wanted as the multicolored ones but she is a lovely budgie, wish I could have her back but I cannot as the cycle would start again.) November 22, 200618 yr great to hear that Mindy found a home Just think of where she started from when you got her Phoebe, you did a great job and now it's paid off. Â Sorry to hear about Star :ausb:
November 22, 200618 yr I e-mail the lady at the shelter quite frequently but she always seems to not answer the Star laying eggs one so I don't know.
November 23, 200618 yr Glad to see she has found a good home, I have enough trouble with people bringing animals to me without working/going to a shelter, it would be heartbreaking to see and my house would be full!! (have promised myself no more kangaroos!!) Glad to see someone active in rehoming animals!!
November 23, 200618 yr I really don't know why people buy animals.Mindy is a beautiful budgie and is lucky that there are animal lovers in the world.I can't believe someone would treat such a beautiful animal like that.Glad she found a home.Well done to everyone involved
November 23, 200618 yr We have deer issues here Robin, their kangaroos are like our deer here in the our part of the world. Amazing huh.
November 24, 200618 yr Okay, no kangaroo, koala bear or other sweet cuddly animal, just feeling so good that Mindy has a happy ending, post is closed.............
November 26, 200618 yr I got Mindy from a classified ad at my place of work, quarantined her for a month and then took her out to an avian rescue in the Fraser Valley until she got adopted. By your question I take you are asking where you can adopt rescues? I have six of them. In Nanaimo, you can start by logging into the Nanaimo SPCA website and it will show you available pets for adopton there as well as Parksville, Victoria, etc. and direct you to other Petfinder places. I think there is an avian rescue in Coombs as well but you would have to check it out, good luck. (And if you are into bunnies, guinea pigs, rats, gerbils and hamsters there are TONS of those needing good homes, fostering or donations.)
