Id And Possible Baby Colours

Featured Replies

Hi eveyone. I was wondering if you could help me ID the colours/mutations of my flock.

Mango (I'm fairly positive she's a Lutino. She has the red eyes and white wing feathers)

Loki

Spangle (I know he's not a Spangle, but I liked the name)

Merlin

Kiwi

Dixie

And because I suck at genetics I was also wondering what colours I could expect from them. So far it seems that my pairs will be Kiwi/Dixie, Spangle/Merlin and Loki/Mango.

Thanks.

You've got a lovely bunch of darlings. :fear

Here are my stab at colour and mutations... please bare with me, I'm still learning myself.. :D :fear

The first three are harder to tell the body colour as the lighting isn't good.

Mango - Lutino (could be creamino, hard to tell with lighting, but would say more of a lutino)

Loki - Recessive Pied (possibly olive green? or is that grey green? or possibly goldenface)

Spangle - Dominant Pied (possibly cobalt or mauve)

Merlin - Normal Cobalt blue

Kiwi - Light green spangle

Dixie - Normal Mauve

I'm not sure about offsprings outcome.. still getting my brain around that one. :P

Is Kiwi a boy? From the look of it's cere, looks like a girl, but it could just be the photo and the angle of it. :D hard to tell.

Mango's probably a creamino with white flights. Spangle looks like a yellowface double factor dominant pied.

Kiwi/Dixie - 50% spangles and 50% normals.. they would all be green unless Kiwi is split for blue or yellowface - All would have at least 1 dark factor - so dark green

Spangle/Merlin - if spangle is a double factor dominant pied then you would get all single factor dominant pieds. They could be yellowfaces or blue depending on what Spangle is.

Loki/Mango - if Loki is green.. then the babies would be green unless his is split for blue/yellowface .. Babies would be split for recessive pied and males would be split for -ino

Kiwi isn't a spangle. Do you want to try again or let me tell ya?

Mango- Lutino the yellow is too strong and even to be creamino.

Loki- someone stated already - recessive pied Dark green I think, might be olive.

Spangle - looks likea dominant pied to me. Possible Double Factor. Either cobalt or mauve.

Merlin- Lovey stated

Tixie- okay I believe s/he is only a grey wing.

Dixie - Lovey stated :( Who is the one behind her?

give me a hint (Laughing out loud)

he looks like he could be a full body grey wing but the marking look reversed ?

Well Looking at the tail it looks dark not a yellow it should be for a spangle. Although I agree the wings to look spangleish. But again the grey flight feather rules out that being the only mutation ( they should be yellow too)

full body grey wing seems to fit in my mind.

explain the tail of the spangle? I don't get it? :(

On a spangle the two long tail feathers are clear, so in a green (and yf) spangle they would be yellow and in a blue white.

Kiwi's looks like the normal blue colouring.

hmmm you're right Nerwen, I didn't pay much notice to the tail feathers. Though if it is a greywing, , it is a pretty badly marked greywings.. there's too much yellow on the wings unless it's molted them out. :(

okay, I didn't know that Nerwen interesting so I did get it right yeah but Cheeta you are right poorly marked but lets take it back and say a gorgeous budgie anyway :(.
