Posted September 15, 200420 yr okay this just came to me and I'm wondering if any here can help me. Is there a difference in the number of egg in a clutch between a first timer and one that has laid before? I'm just asking cause there is such a case in dogs and cats, their first little can be as small as two but the next time it is normally larger.
September 15, 200420 yr I'm not sure. In my limited experience, Skittles laid a clutch of 7 the first time, and a clutch of 6 the second, but the second time around was started when some of the babies were still in the nest box. I think she was tired. I expect if she lays again to have about the same number.
September 15, 200420 yr the clutch sizes are more or less the same but as they get older you will have less fertile eggs
