July 19, 200618 yr have you thought about spraying them? or using a back and forth sprinkler not the ones that go around in a circle they seem way to dangerous. or adding a couple very shallow pans on the ground or a bird bath that is shallow and they can crawl out of? It has been very hot here too I only have 2 and I usually just wet them down especially Merlin. Edited July 19, 200618 yr by lovey

I have a sprinkler system with a very fine spray running through the roof of my aviary, and as you may know,it gets very hot in summer down under. My birds just love it as it cools them and they play.keeps them cool and active,I also have a water fountain which they use as a bath,it's all good
July 19, 200618 yr Adding to the other suggestions, a tarpaulin rigged up like a tent over the aviary for shade purposes...with tent poles and ropes each corner. Could the aviary be relocated for the future in a shadier area of the garden at all ? I also use roller blinds on some walls of my aviary for shade. Edited July 19, 200618 yr by Bubbles
July 19, 200618 yr The easiest thing to rig up quickly is a sprinkler on the roof of the aviary - just a garden one. Turn it on low, and leave for 15 minutes. Make sure they have lots of fresh water to bathe in. Some birds will sit under the spray from the sprinkler, for those that don't it will cool down the temperature in there a heap. Repeat as needed. If you have sprinkler restrictions, then hose down the roof and sides with a hose!
