Posted July 17, 200618 yr Hello, I'm new and this is my first post. I will start by saying what a wonderful forum this is. Its has all the sdvice you could need about our feathered friends. Now, more to the point, I have seen the claims this cage seems to have i.e better for the bird, more space, better perches etc etc. I wondered if there was anyone who knew about the cage and if it was recommended by experienced budgie owners or not as I was considering one for my budgie. Thank you.
July 17, 200618 yr Hi and welcome! Here in Australia, we don't get the range of cages the rest of the world do - and they are all advertised here as 'cages' no name brands! If you post a link to the item, then we will give you our opinions
July 17, 200618 yr If that's the cage, my friend has one and she isn't too happy with it. Hers has green where the picture shows brown. Oh, and hello! Edited July 17, 200618 yr by Phoebe
July 17, 200618 yr I have seen those in person, for me they seem that they don't let a good air flow go through them with all the plastic, it is more pleasing to our eye and probably keeps the seed in better. But there may be someone who actually has this cage with more experience then I. The perches are dowel perches unless they give you natural perches or rope perches there is nothing different there . Most cages you have to replace the perches with different sizes and natural type like to exercise their feet. Or you can make them yourself that is what I did to cut down on cost plus my birds like to pick on them and strip the bark.
July 17, 200618 yr Hi there........ If that is the cage, all I can say is it looks ultra modern, space age in looks, but has no real redeeming qualities that makes me want to house birds in it. The ideal cage has flight space (across the width not in height ) three or four short perches running front to back and really....the biggest you can afford for your money. Ebay has some good bargains in cages usually....try them
July 17, 200618 yr If I recall correctly, it is difficult to modify or rearrange the cage if necessary because of the plastic pieces. It looks really "space agey" but not all that functional.
July 17, 200618 yr On top of all that was said above, everyone I know who has had one has complained about how hard they are to clean and how easily the corners and such break off. I'm easily-frustrated so that would drive me up the wall. :X
July 17, 200618 yr When I first saw these I thought they were so cool and wanted one. But after hearing from others, I'm glad I didn't get one. All that plastic leaves very little for the budgies to climb on. So they are pretty much stuck sitting on their perches when inside the cage. I'd say spend the money on a good horizontal bar cage. Your budgies with thank you for it I'm sure.
